Transgender Children-Out Of The Shadows

I saw Jenn Burleton at SCC this year and was very impressed with he dedication and her work.

In it's original release, this film by Jenn Burleton was viewed more than 300,000 times and translated into several languages. This Director's Cut version includes additional material more in line with the filmmaker's original vision.

It is a timely film about an issue facing children and youth that is far too often overlooked or sensationalized for political reasons.

If you support this film and the children and families it represents, then please consider supporting the organization that is working on behalf of these kids, TransActive Education & Advocacy.

Here is her almost unused blog transactive.blogspot.com/ Hopefully it will get better.

Here is another of her blogs with her SCC speech. transadvocate.com/transjennpdx Cool!

Jenn Burleton does not work with TransYouth Family Advocates. She is a past Board Member. The video is not associated with TransYouth Family Advocates but rather with TransActive. The current board would appreciate it if you could amend your post to reflect this information.

I would be cautious about posting this video on your site. The music is copyrighted and the video did not get permission to use it. Just saying...

I am a bit confused. On this site:

http://www.indiana.edu/~glbtserv/?p=178

It says:

OUR MISSION
TransYouth Family Advocates (TYFA) are parents, family, friends and caring adults dedicated to educating and raising public awareness about the medical and cultural challenges faced by children with gender variant and gender questioning identities and the families who love them.
OUR VISION
Whenever children are able to express or
articulate their gender identity, however
young, they have the right to a caring
atmosphere supporting that identity.

Sorry for the confusion. There are old copies and information out there. It is difficult to do clean up once something has hit the super highway.

Due to copyright concerns TYFA no longer uses the video.

It's difficult to prove a negative, however I feel compelled to correct an earlier poster's comment. There is no copyright infringement involved in any aspect of the film, "Out Of The Shadows".
The "anonymous" individual who made the original post claiming such and then the follow-up post by "Kim" in response to your comment (seems like they are probably the same person) are incorrect in their assertions.
While not everyone pictured in the film was originally thrilled to have been included, all of those reservations have long since been resolved. The music in the film is licensed for non-profit use so long as it is not sold.
TransYouth Family Advocates, the organization that I envisioned, co-founded and served as Past President and Board Member of made the decision to no longer use the film in support of their message after my resignation from the organization.
I hope this helps to clarify any concerns or questions you or others may have.

Vickie,

Thank you again for your support!

Our new website will be going live next week and it will be well worth the wait for anyone interested in my ongoing work with and on behalf of children and youth who are gender non-conforming and their families.

The site; www.transactiveonline.org is currently still in beta format so what you will see there now is virtually barebones...but not for long.

Please share this information with anyone you care to. And thanks again for your passion. As the saying I created goes..."Your support means the world to them."
